Giving

Giving to Christ Church

Giving back

Giving is a response to God’s amazing generosity to us:

  • Everything we have comes from God (1 Chronicles 29:14)
  • The Lord Jesus Christ gave up everything for us (2 Corinthians 8:9)

Our heartfelt response expresses itself, not only in our Sunday worship, but also in the way we live our lives and review our priorities.  That includes our attitude towards money and the way in which we use the resources that God has given us.

Meeting our expenses

Without each one of us having the commitment to give financially to the church, we will not have the resources to share the good news of Jesus, to maintain our church, or meet our day-to-day expenses.  As a church, we get no national or local help.

If we give generously, we are showing that we have committed ourselves and all that we have to God’s work and glory.

These principles, from Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, will help us to prayerfully consider how much we should give:

  • When we give, it is a sign of God’s grace at work in our lives.
  • Christian giving is inspired by the cross of Christ.
  • Our giving should be regular and budgeted.
  • It should be a realistic proportion of what we have.
  • Our giving should be cheerful, generous, and sacrificial, but not reluctant.
  • And today we would add – our giving should be tax efficient.

We are very grateful for the many people who already give generously and sacrificially, and have done so for many years, but if you have not reviewed your giving this year, we would encourage you to give this prayerful consideration and to complete the response form attached.
